Osprey lays fourth egg at Perthshire nature reserve, surprising staff

A female osprey, thought to be the UK's oldest, has surprised staff at a Perthshire nature reserve by laying a fourth egg.
Rangers at the Loch of the Lowes, near Dunkeld, spotted the newest addition to "Lady's" nest on Saturday morning.

UK's oldest osprey lays third egg at Perthshire reserve

Staff at a Perthshire nature reserve have discovered more eggs at the nest of an osprey thought to be the oldest in the UK.

The female raptor, named "Lady", surprised rangers by laying her 65th egg last Thursday at the Loch of the Lowes reserve in Dunkeld.

First osprey's egg of season laid

The first osprey egg of the year in Scotland has been laid in a nest at a secret site in the Borders.
Tweed Valley Osprey Project information officer Diane Bennett said the birds only arrived back from their winter sojourn on 3 April.

British garden birds are bouncing back

A national survey has recorded an encouraging rise in small bird populations in the UK.

In January, over 600,000 people took part in the Big Garden Birdwatch run by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB).

The results, published this week, show a promising increase in garden bird populations since last year.
