Birds of Paradise

Not something you can normally see in Stretford, the Bird of Paradise.

A family of birds that are unique, some of the most colourful birds you will ever see and they have the most bizarre dances you will ever see. An absolutely fantastic book (I think I might start saving for a trip to New Guinea)

BTO Bird ID - Common Shanks

Redshank are common, familiar (and very noisy) waders found, year-round, on our coastal habitats as well as inland during the breeding season. Very small numbers of the related Greenshank breed, but can you separate Redshank, Greenshank and the arctic-breeding Spotted Redshank when all three can be found together in late summer and autumn on saltmarshes and lagoons?

BTO Bird ID - Hirundines and Swift

With their swept back wings and aerial lifestyle hirundines (Swallow, Sand and House Martins) and the similar, but unrelated, Swift often cause ID headaches. Let us help you to separate these amazing summer visitors.

What's been happening?

Well what has been happening? December and January I was ill, never been so bad. Two lots of anti-biotics before it all subsided. February and March was spent getting back on track, catching up on lots of work that had been put on the back burner. Unfortunately no time for birding. Now it's time to get back out in the fresh air and see what can be seen.

I'm looking for a hide clamp and a new small camera to get digiscoping. Hopefully a few posts soon.
