Pennington Flash Birding: Spotting Mandarin Ducks & Hunting for Ospreys

Evening Birding Session at Pennington Flash

My Field Notes

DATE: Friday 22nd May 2026
TIME: 5pm - 7pm
WEATHER: Breezy, Sunny Spells, 16°C - a very nice evening

Trying our luck with another visit to Pennington Flash for a few hours watching in hope for the Osprey to appear, and once again luck was not on our side, it didn’t appear. Speaking to some other birders it had been seen today but around lunch time. Although slightly disappointed we never saw our target bird there was no shortage of other birds to keep us busy and after all another excuse to be out of the house in nature.
